My group of friends walked this April 2005, we met in a lay-by at the foot of one of the mountains and walked up into dense fog, meanwhile the army were running down, looked a bit serious they did as well. It was freezing on top and we hung a right and walked along a ridge for a few miles then dropped down into a gully and some marshland below. Then round a dried-up reservoir and back over another peak and then back to the car park. Took about 5 hours, good day out.
