I took a peek at Regensburg in January 2008 on an overcast cold day. This was a shame because like most cities, its true splendour was spoilt by the murky weather. From the bahnhof a straight line takes you to the centre of town, quite a few churches and narrow cobbled streets. It's very quaint, I spent some time looking for a coffee shop where I could keep warm and eventually found one up a passageway and what fabulous cakes!
On this day, the river looked absolutely horrible and there was a cyclepath alonside it: no safety rail (that's it, on the right of the photograph) and covered in ice!
After 2 hours, I gave up and headed for a beautiful, sunny Nurnburg.
