We arrived here in August 2003 just as the 2-month long heatwave was finishing and we were greeted with downpours, I think every day. However, they cleaned the place up a bit and we enjoyed a brilliant week, one of our best holidays. Austria is well geared up for transporting the public about very cheaply, also well setup with cyccle paths, amenities for holidaymakers etc. We stayed at the Grand hotel (yes we splashed out) and grand it was, indeed. Although I never intend visiting the same place twice for holiday, we will be returning here it was so good. My only critiscism is that the local montain, Schmittenhohe is very spoilt with chairlift gantrys, the walk to the top from the south west isn't too good. You can't have everything though.
